Verifying Game Ownership is Taking Longer Than Usual
You may encounter game verification errors due to the “trust” issues between the inventory server of the game and the Steam client. Moreover, an outdated version of the game and Steam client can also cause the error under discussion.
You can encounter the error when trying to join a server for a multiplayer game. Also, the issue is not limited to a particular server.
What to do to Fix Game Ownership Verification Error?
Some users complained about the display message “waiting for verification” that just stands there for a long time. There are some fixes to solve the problem and we decided to put them all together.
Step 1: Restart the Game and Steam Client
The issue could be a result of the temporary malfunction of software/communication modules. The issue can be cleared by restarting the game and Steam client.
Exit the game/Steam client and kill all of the related processes through the Windows Task Manager.
Now relaunch the Steam client/game with administrator privileges and check if the matter is solved.
Restart your system.
Upon restart, relaunch the game/Steam client and check if the problem is solved.
If not, then Logout of the Steam client and restart your system.
Logout of the Steam Client
Restart and Login with Steam credentials.
Now launch the game and check if the problem is solved.
Step 2: Verify the Integrity of the sport Cache
The files essential for the operation of the sport can get corrupt thanks to many factors sort of a sudden power outage and maybe the rationale behind the present verification issue. In this context, using the built-in tool of Steam client to verify the integrity of the game cache may solve the problem.
Open Steam Client and go to the Library.
Now right-click on Unturned and select Properties.
Open Properties of Unturned
Then navigate to the Local Files tab and click on the button of Verify Integrity of Game Cache.
Verify Integrity of Unturned Cache
Now, wait for the completion of the verification process.
Then launch the game and check if it is operating fine.
Step 3: Turn off Inventory
If the Steam client could not verify the authenticity of your inventory server, then the error under discussion will be thrown. In this situation, removing cosmetics, character clothing, and skins of all of your inventory items may solve the matter.
Open the inventory of your game and de-equip cosmetics, clothing, and skins of all the items (including weapons like guns and knives, etc.). Also, confirm no cosmetics are applied to any of your game characters.
Now restart your Steam client and launch the sport to see if the matter is solved.
If not, again open the inventory of your game and equip/de-equip every item one by one (a tedious task if you have a lot of inventory items).
Equip and De-Equip Skins
Now restart your Steam client and launch the sport to see if the matter is solved.
If not, then check the operation of the game by deleting the crates in the inventory of the game.
If the game is still encountering the issue, check if any market items are pending, if so, remove the market items and then equip/de-equip market items. Next thing is to see if the game is now free of the error.
If you are still having issues, then you need to find a trusted Steam account (of a friend or your other account) and trade all of your tradable items to that account.
Trade back your inventory items to the account.
If the game is still not clear of the error, then verify the integrity of the game cache (as discussed in solution 2) and de-equip every cosmetic, character clothing, and skin.
Now exit your Steam client and await a minimum of two hours.
Then launch the Steam client and game to see if the sport is obvious of the error.
