TikTok videos aren’t very long, most of them are only a few seconds long to a few minutes, but there are reasons to get through them faster. Maybe you just want to get to the end of the video to see the results, or you want to see more videos so you fast-forward through them. Some videos don’t give you that option.
Not all TikTok videos have the fast-forward option. This can be because the creator has disabled the function, or the video is very short and can’t be fast-forwarded. To find out if a video can be forwarded or reversed, look for the white line and dot at the bottom of the video.
I like watching crafting videos, but there are times I just want to see the completed project. Maybe you just want to see the funny cat again but you don’t want to sit through the whole thing. In times like these, it’s great to skip ahead, but what happens when you can’t fast-forward?

Can You Fast-Forward On TikTok?
When TikTok first came out, you didn’t have the option to skip through the video or go back and watch your favorite part again. With later updates, some videos now have that option, but not all of them. What you need to be on the lookout for is the white line near the bottom of the video and the small dot.
Some videos are very short and can’t be fast-forwarded or rewound, while some videos can be rather long. Especially when someone is doing a craft project. Sometimes they even spread it out to several videos before showing you the final step, but you don’t know until you get to the end of the video, only to find out you have to watch more to get the final result.
There is also a new option on TikTok called Story. You can upload a video to your story, and these can’t be fast-forwarded. They even have the white line scrolling from left to right like longer, regular videos, but it doesn’t have the dot. Without the dot, you can’t speed up or reverse the video.
Luckily, for most of the long videos, you have the option to skip through to the end or rewatch your favorite part.
Fast Forward On the TikTok App
While you are scrolling through the app and you see a video that you want to hurry up and get to the end, just look for the white progress bar at the bottom. Tap on the small circle and the bar and dot should expand. Now all you have to do is slide the dot to the left or the right.
Slide it left to go back in time in the video and slide it right to speed through the content. The bar doesn’t appear for sponsored content so you can either flip the screen up and skip the video completely, or wait and watch the whole thing.
Fast-forwarding or reversing is the same on the app and the website. Just look for the progress bar and slide it either way.
When the video is short but you missed something and want to go back, simply slide up to get the next video to show up, then slide it back down. The video you were watching will reappear, but it will start playing from the beginning again. If you didn’t catch that caption, or you thought you saw something but needed to do a double take, just swipe up and then back down again.
Fast Forward From Your Camera Roll
There is a trick where you save the videos to your phone’s camera roll. When you do that, you can watch, fast-forward, or reverse the videos however you want. Both iPhone and Android users have this option on their phone’s camera roll.
First, when you see a video you want to fast-forward through, tap the Share-arrow button on the TikTok video. Then you need to tap Save Video to download it to your phone. Next, exit out of the TikTok app and go into your phone’s camera roll and open up the video.
Now you can watch the video all the way through, fast-forward to the best part, or rewind it to watch that funny part over and over again.

How Do you Scroll Through a TikTok Video?
Look for the white progress bar and the dot at the bottom of the screen. If you see the progress bar just slide it to the left or right. If you are looking to get past the video to the next, just swipe up to the next video.
If you click on someone’s profile to see all their videos you can scroll through them by swiping up or down. Going up will show you later videos the creator has made, and swiping up will scroll through the newest videos that were created.
How Do You Play TikTok in 2x Speed?
When you open up the TikTok app, tap on the Plus icon in the bottom middle of your screen. This is the recording mode where you can make your videos. To speed up your videos to 2x or higher speed click on the clock (SPEED) icon on the right side of the screen.

How Can I Watch TikTok in 3X speed?
Right now there is no way to speed up or slow down a creator’s video while watching them. All you can do is a pause, skip forward, or rewind some videos, but you can’t change the speed you are watching.

What is the Length of TikTok Videos?
When TikTok first started, the only length of video allowed was 15 seconds. Later on, they started allowing videos in segments of 30 seconds, 60 seconds, and up to 3 minutes. But as of February of this year (2022), the maximum length of a TikTok video can be as long as 10 minutes.
Does TikTok Have a Dark Mode?
You can turn on a dark mode in TikTok which will make the app have light text with a dark screen. It does not affect the appearance of videos though. To turn on TikTok’s Dark mode, tap PROFILE at the bottom right of the screen.
Go into your SETTINGS by tapping the three lines at the top right of the screen. Then go into SETTINGS AND PRIVACY. There scroll down until you see DARK MODE, then tap on the circle underneath to cycle it from Dark to Light.
Only some, longer TikTok videos can be fast-forwarded. Shorter videos don’t have this option. TikTok Stories are not able to be manipulated this way either.
To find out if the video you are watching is able to be adjusted while watching, look for the progress bar at the bottom and the white dot accompanying it. When you see them both, tap on the dot and move it to the desired position. That’s how you can fast-forward, or reverse the videos.
